Maybe 2, 4, 6, 8.....

After my husband and I got married a friend of ours asked the common question of when we thought that we were going to have kids. I told her maybe in two years. Two years quickly passed and I said well maybe two more years. I kept changing my answer to maybe two more years. In August we celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary. Needless to say our plan to have children wasn't what we had planned. I We do want children but years of numerous jobs, unemployment, medical complications, moving from one small apartment to another has not lead to us entering the world of parenthood, yet.

I keep trying to have an open heart and mind to see where God leads us. I the mean time I full my time with helping to raise other peoples kids. Some people may not agree that being a Nanny is a grown up job or believe that women should stay at home with their kids and not hire other people to do it, I obviously don't share those views. In the 7 years I have been a nanny I have provided care for 20 children in 8 different families (only my most recent two families have been 5 days a week. Previously my week was split between two families.) I have come to realize that spending time with other people's children helps me to fill the void of not having kids of my own.

I also fill my time with my 2 beautiful foster nieces and my 2 foster nephews. From the moment they came to live with my sister they have been part of my family. The oldest two are on the road to being adopted by my sister and brother-in-law. It has been a long emotional process but so worth it. They never cease to amaze me.

We shall see what the future holds and cling to the promise found in Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
